Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring substance in our body. As we age we lose collagen and elastin, our fat-pats shrink and our bones lose density and shrink, which gives a tired, older, sunken appearance. Using dermal fillers we can restore lost volume, smooth lines and enhance facial contours for facial rejuvenation.
HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?
Dermal fillers longevity range from 6 -12 months depending on the brand, the thickness, individuals metabolism, area treated and clients health.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS?
Dermal filler results are instantaneous! But can take up to 2 weeks for final results once product has settled and side effects have resolved.
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?
It is expected to see, swelling, redness and bruising. This can take a few days to 2 weeks to resolve. There are other possible side effects/risk factors depending on the product, technique and area treated that will be discussed with the aesthetician.
Anti-wrinkle Injections
Botulinum toxin is a purified neurotoxin that is derived from a bacteria ‘Clostidium botulinum’. Injecting the toxin into targeted muscles prevents communication between your nerves and your muscles which then prevents our muscles from being able to contract. This treatment prevents the formation of static wrinkles, it decreases or ‘freezes’ the movement of the targeted area.
Wrinkles and lines are formed as we age due to the continual contraction of facial muscles for expression such as frowning, smiling, squinting etc.
HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?
Botulinum toxin can last from 2-4 months. Some people can still have effects for longer around 4-6 months. It’s also common for first timers to notice that it doesn’t last as long initially but lasting longer after the second treatment. This also is individual and dosage dependant.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS?
Treatment can begin to work 2-3 days post injection peaking at 2-6 weeks. It’s encouraged that the client will return at 2 weeks post treatment to reassess for optimal results and if results have been achieved.
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?
It can be expected to see redness, swelling and bruising at the injection sites. In some cases this can take a few days to resolve. But generally there is no downtime for anti-wrinkle injections.
In extremely rare cases there are other complications such as eyebrow or eyelid ptosis which is caused by migration of product, this will settle from 3- 6 weeks.
Other side effects such as ‘spocking’ of the eyebrow or over active eyebrow can be resolved with an adjustment of dosage and distribution at the 2 week review. Asymmetry can be reassessed at the 2 week review and resolved also with adjustment of dosage and distribution.
Shelving around the eyes resolves over a 3 month period.
Skin Needling
‘‘collagen induction therapy’ by repetitively puncturing the skin within the epidermis and dermis with tiny sterile needles, creates controlled wound channels to induce the inflammatory response. Doing so assists in the remodelling of extracellular matrix, including collagen and elastin.
Skin needling can visibly improve the appearance of;
-fine lines and wrinkles
-scar tissue / trauma scars
-stretch marks
-pigmentation (vitiligo, melisma, hypo & hyper)
-acne, problematic skin
-rosacea
-enlarged pores
Suited for all skin Fitz types.
Clients must be using a Vitamin A, B & C product for 2 weeks minimum prior to this treatment.
PRP INJECTIONS
WHAT ARE PRP INJECTIONS?
PRP is an extract of a patient’s own blood that contains high concentration of platelets, growth factors & active proteins essential for tissue regeneration and healing. Platelet Rich Plasma injections (PRP) is a treatment that stimulates new cell growth, which helps your skin texture, complexion, facial volume & hair restoration. After your blood is taken, the vial is spun in a centrifuge which separates the plasma and platelets from the red blood cells. Then small amounts is re-injected in the skin/scalp to stimulate new collagen, skin cells or hair cells.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
For skin rejuvenation research shows that best results are achieved by a series of 3 sessions 4 weeks apart, then yearly afterward. Depending on the patient’s age some choose to return every 6 months.
For hair restoration 3 treatments 4 weeks apart is also recommended. Increasing patients age and greater time from first hair loss increases the number of treatments needed, and also the length of time before noticeable change in hair health, number and strength.
For example a young male 22 years of age will usually see a good change at 4 months after 3 treatments, 4 weeks apart. Compared to a 40 year old male who has been balding for the past 10 years will probably require 6-9 treatments, 4 weeks apart and will usually see a good change 9-12 months after baseline treatment.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
For skin rejuvenation immediately after the procedure the injected skin will feel tighter then usual and lines and wrinkles will already be minimised. However this degree of tightening will not last and will return to normal after 4 days. The initial subtle swelling will resolve usually around day 3 and the tenderness at the injection sites will resolve usually the same time. Some patients will notice improvements by day 7 but we usually advise the best benefits are not seen until at least 6 weeks post. Patients report the improvements last up to 9-12 months.
For hair restoration see example above.
HOW LONG WILL THE INJECTIONS LAST?
Top up injections required every 6-12 months.
